What made you start CrossFit?

I was training for an Ironman 70.3 race and wanted something different to add to my training schedule. CrossFit was good for me to mix my gymnastics and weightlifting background together and had fun doing it. Never looked back.

Favorite aspect of CF?

I’ve been in the fitness industry for 18 years. I’ve always had a passion to help people live a healthy lifestyle. I love the different athletes I get to teach. My main focus is to teach people to move well and safely so they can live a quality life outside the gym. CrossFit can be adapted to fit anyone’s fitness needs.

Favorite WOD?

I have a few, but I would say Murph has been the most challenging workout I’ve done since my Ironman Race. It is not only physically challenging but mentally as well. I honor and respect our military men and women very much and so glad to be a part of the Crossfit community who honor them through workouts dedicated to the fallen heroes.

Favorite Lift?

Squats. Any kind.

What do I hope people gain by doing Crossfit?

I hope people can leave the gym with confidence after doing a workout and show up the next day ready to take on another one. I think CrossFit has changed people’s lives in ways they never imagined. We have a strong supportive community and athletes of all different backgrounds, and CrossFit pulls us all together.

Education/Certifications:

  • L1 Certified

What made you start CrossFit?

I was frustrated about not seeing results from the typical treadmill/elliptical/globo gym workouts I was doing and knew I needed something new and challenging.

What’s your favorite aspect of CF?

By far the community and the variety of the sport. I love working out with other members and seeing them push themselves. That motivates me more than I could ever put into words. It’s inspiring to have others around that are not only there to better themselves, but to push and encourage me to be a better person and athlete as well. I also love how everyday of CrossFit brings something new. I have never once felt “bored” during a workout. I feel like every day and every WOD brings a new way to become a heathier person and better athlete.

Favorite WOD?

My favorite WOD is definitely Fran. I love that this WOD pushes people to go their hardest every time it’s programed. I also love the community aspect of Murph on Memorial Day, as well.

Favorite Lift?

My favorite lift is the Snatch. I enjoy the technicality of this lift and how each fragment of the movement can either make a break or break a good lift.

What do you hope people gain by doing CrossFit?

I hope people gain a healthier version of themselves by doing CrossFit. I hope that by doing CrossFit a person can recognize both the physical and mental rewards of the sport. CrossFit is doable for every single person. One thing that a person will definitely gain by doing CrossFit and joining CrossFit Drums is a second family full of fellow CrossFitters!

What made you start CrossFit?

I got into CrossFit because I was getting bored with conventional workouts. I liked the constantly varied nature of the workouts. Plus, there is a lot of research proving that constantly varied high intensity workouts are beneficial not only for weight loss, but overall fitness and health.

Favorite WOD?

Nancy or Helen

Favorite Lift?

Overhead squat and Snatch

Favorite aspect of CF?

My favorite part about CrossFit is the focus on functional movement and how we can apply that do daily life. I also love the sense of family in any CF box nationwide.
